A private tasting under the redwoods and next to a cherry tree in bloom was a beautiful way to start our day. The drive through the redwood forest from Saratoga alone was worth it. But, we also got to taste some gorgeous Beauregard Vineyards wines, all made from grapes sourced within miles of the tasting room. The expression of terroir here is pure as they use native yeasts and little manipulation in the winemaking process. Their Zinfandel was our favorite of the day, with much a more restrained style than typically found in a California Zin. It was still packed with fruit, but not the jammy fruit bomb that one might expect. The spice shined and the mouthfeel was full, yet elegant.
