Oh Daddy! This was a good one for Father’s Day. Scents of macerated strawberries and baking spices with a slightly hazy ruby color made me think of a Burgundy. But, this wine is all Cali from the Russian River Valley. With 5 years age, it showed a bit of mellowing of the color and a fine sediment. The palate though was beautifully fruity with strawberry, red currant and orange peel. Baking spices finished the palate which was notable for a super silky mouthfeel and a well preserved acidity. I was really sad to finish this one and depressed that there was a mere 750 ml for me and the hubby to share.
