Wine Events of the Week-Austin Jan. 29-Feb. 5, 2017

  • Somms Under Fire–comes to the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center on the UT campus January 29th at 6 PM.  Somms compete to impress the judges with their wine knowledge, service and pairing expertise. 
  • Slow Wine 2017 Austin–comes to the Fair Market from 1-5 PM on January 30, 2017 1-5PM.  This is an industry tasting event where 67 producers from across all of Italy will be tasting their fabulous wines.  Register via link. 
  • Chappellet Wines–are in town for two events on Tuesday January 31.  Start at June’s for Chappellet Happy Hour from 4-6, and finish at Jeffrey’s for a five course Chappellet dinner with pairings starting at 7 PM. 
  • Italic–hosts yet another fantastic free tasting and pop up dinner on January 31.  Felsina, of Tuscany, is the featured winery with a free tasting in the wine bar from 4:30 to 6:30.  A three course pairing menu will be available in which you can choose any or all courses paired with one of the featured wines. 
  • Austin Wine Merchant–hosts Jean Trimbach, 12th generation of the Trimbach Estate.  Jean will pour seven of their fine Alsatian white offerings.  This is a tasting not to be missed.  FREE, 4:30-6:30 PM on February 1, 2017.
  • Bubbles and Buckets–at the TRIO restaurant Four Seasons.  Every Thursday through March 2, 2017.  Enjoy their juicy fried chicken paired with a split of Champagne and side of compressed watermelon for $25. 
  • Austin Wine Merchant–hosts free tastings every Saturday from 12-3 PM with occasional weekday tastings.  Sign up for their mailing list to receive regular updates.  Highly recommended to expand your wine knowledge.
