Wine Events of the Week–Austin Nov. 1 to Nov. 8, 2017

  • Second Bar + Kitchen Domain Northside–Hosts Wine Wednesday with half off Italian wines on Wednesday November 1, 2017 from 4-10 PM. Four Italian bottles will be offered at half off and select Italian appetizers will be available for $5 during happy hour.  Live music starts at 6 PM. 
  • III Forks Prime Steakhouse–Hosts Crown Jewels Wine Tasting on Wednesday November 1, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM.  Sip tastes of the six top wines from tastings throughout the year and vote on the crown jewel.  $25 per person, reservations required.  Contact the restaurant for details. 
  • The Arboretum at Great Hills–Hosts Wine Down Wednesday on November 1, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM.  Sign in to pick up a free wristband near Amy’s Ice Creams.  Wristband is good for five tastings paired with small bites at different stations.  Four live bands will play.
  • It’s Italian Cucina–Hosts Firriato Tasting on Thursday November 2, 2017 from 5-7 PM.  Certified Sommelier, Heather Falvo (me!) will be pouring three delicious Sicilian wines from the Firriato Winery.  Let me turn you on to a fantastic, but little known white grape, Grillo.  Free. 
  • 827 Ray’s Kitchen + Cellar–Hosts Local Buena Vista Wine Dinner with the Count on Thursday November 2, 2017 at 6:30 PM.  “The Count” of Buena Vista Winery will regale you with the stories of each wine as they are paired with a multi-course menu.  Tickets are $95, and are available at Eventbrite.
  • Hill Country Galleria–Hosts Pumpkins and Pinots on Friday November 3, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM.  Two glasses of wine paired with appetizers will be offered for $25.  Photos of you and the family at the pumpkin patch outside of Amy’s Ice Creams are also included.  $25 per person, tickets available at Eventbrite.
  • House Wine–Hosts Annual Hill Country Wine Tour on Saturday November 4, 2017 from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM.  Let House Wine take you on a tour of three Austin area wineries including Calais Winery, Kuhlman Cellars, and Westcave Cellars.  Transportation from House Wine, tastings at each location including barrel tastings and tastings with winemakers and lunch are included.  Tickets are $150 and available in link for House Wine.  These wineries often show up on lists of must visit Texas wineries, so make it happen if you can!
  • Cannon + Belle–Hosts 5 Course Silver Oak Wine Dinner on Saturday November 4, 2017 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.  A five course dinner will be paired with amazing Napa Valley wines for $85.  Reservations are required and can be either registered in link, or by contacting Jeff Shull at 512-493-4900 or Jeff.Shull@Hilton.com.
  • The Austin Wine Merchant–Hosts a free tasting in the shop every Saturday from 12 to 3 PM.  Highly recommended to expand your wine knowledge. 
  • 827 Ray’s Kitchen + Cellar–Hosts 827Ray’s Wine Experience on Tuesday November 7, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.   Four wines will be paired with appetizers for $38 plus tax and service.  Tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite.
  • Juliet Italian Kitchen–Hosts Batasiolo Wine Dinner on Tuesday November 7, 2017 from 7 to 10 PM.  Stefano Poggi, brand ambassador for Batasiolo wines will guide a tasting of their Piemontese wines paired with a five course menu.  Tickets are $75 per person and available from Eventbrite.
