Central Standard at the South Congress Hotel offers an impressive wine list both by the glass and bottle as well as an innovative cocktail list. I gravitate towards small plates when visiting, but they also have excellent oysters, steak and seafood dishes. The asparagus salad with lump crab, radish, grapefruit and a garlicky tarragon aioli was a pretty and well-balanced dish that paired perfectly with an off-dry 2014 Laurenz V “Singing” Gruner Veltliner from Kremstal, Austria. And, I got to enjoy it all while listening to the funky tunes of Mama K and the Shades. .
