Wine Events of the Week–Austin May 2 to May 9, 2018

  • Juliet Italian Kitchen–Hosts Zardetto & Castello di Bossi Wine Dinner on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 6 to 8:30 PM.  Enjoy a family style wine dinner featuring Filipo Zardetto, owner of Zardetto, and Jacopo Bacci, owner of Castello di Bossi! Enjoy six different wines paired with popular Juliet Italian Kitchen dishes.  I recently had the pleasure to taste with both of these gentlemen in Verona at Vinitaly and their wines are stellar.  This is an event not to be missed.   • It’s Italian Cucina–Hosts The Event of the Year with Four Italian Producers on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 7 to 10 PM.  A four-course dinner with pairings will be presented by the ambassador of each winery.  Space is extremely limited and pre-paid reservations are required by calling the restaurant @ 5124828655.  $125 per person. 
  • The Rotten Bunch–Hosts Italian Winemaker Dinner on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.  The dinner will feature pairings by Mastroberardino, one of the leading wineries in all of Italy, and the Argiolas family, Sardinia’s leading producer of wine. The dinner will include a chef inspired five-course tasting menu, wine pairings, and a meet and greet with the winemakers!  Tickets can be reserved by going to the restaurant webpage and selecting a reservation for May 2 at 6:30 “winemakers dinner.”
  • Lenoir–Hosts Navigating Quality in a Sea of Rosé with Rania Zayyat of Vintel on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 6 to 7:30 PM.  Join Advanced Sommelier, Rania Zayyat for a class featuring 8 wines from leading winemakers and a discussion on the history of rosé, winemaking methods, and how the world’s top producers have mastered the pink style.  Tickets are $40-55 and available via Eventbrite.
  • Juniper–Hosts Il Viaggio Italiano on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 6:30 to 9 PM.  Join four Italian wine producers for an exclusive dinner featuring six courses and paired wines from incredible Italian wineries, Tasca d’Almerita, Tramin, Pico Maccario and Librandi.  I had the pleasure of tasting with each of these producers at Vinitaly.  Tickets are $127 plus tax and available via Ticketbud.
  • G’raj Mahal–Hosts Wine Pairing with Noble Wine Imports on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 7:30 to 10 PM.  Enjoy a five-course meal paired with Italian wines.  Begin the evening with a Prosecco tasting.  Tickets are $90 and available via Eventbrite.
  • III Forks Prime Steakhouse–Hosts First Wednesday Wine Tasting on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 5 to 7 PM.  Enjoy at least 6 different wines from Washington State.  $25 per person. Reservations are required by calling 512-474-1776.
  • The Austin Wine Merchant–Hosts a free tasting in the shop every Saturday from 12 to 3 PM.  Highly recommended to expand your wine knowledge.
  • The Austin Winery–Hosts Birthday Crawfish Boil on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 12 to 7 PM.  Enjoy a Vietnamese style crawfish boil and your first glass of wine for $20.  Tickets available here.  Live music and special tastings throughout the day.
  • Aviary Wine + Kitchen–Hosts Tuesday Winemaker Happy Hour with Obrigado Vinhos on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, from 5:30 to 8 PM.  Enjoy complimentary tastings with paired bites with Ruis Abicassus of Obrigado Vinhos.  
  • Texas Reds and Whites Tasting Room–Hosts Guided Wine Tasting with Becker Vineyards and Spread & Co. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 6 to 7 PM.  Enjoy five Becker Vineyards wines.  Tickets are $20 and must be purchased in advance here.
  • Baretto–Hosts Educated Guess Wine Tasting on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.  Enjoy a four-course chef’s tasting menu paired with four different varietals of wines.  $45 per person.  Email info@barettoatx.com for reservations.
